Desert Knowledge Australia COOLmob is an information hub assisting Central Australians to live more sustainable lifestyles. It consists of a network of over 500 households in Alice Springs committed to saving on energy and water bills and reducing our environmental impact by using less electricity, water, and petrol. Through simple changes in their daily habits and purchasing decisions these household are leading the way in cool solutions for desert living.
The DKA COOLmob is a joint initiative of Desert Knowledge Australia and the Arid Lands Environment Centre The project originally started as part of the Australian Greenhouse Office national Cool Communities program in 2002 and has been assisting Alice Springs residents ever since.
DKA COOLmob is currently supported by the Northern Territory Department of Natural Resources, Environment and the Arts with individual projects supported by grants and a range of businesses and organisations. |

Sustainability in the pub
Tuesday May 27th, 7:30pm at the Firkin and Hound.
What is sustainability? How can we successfully apply it to our lives, homes and businesses? Meet other sustainabots over a beer and expect to see some well-known local faces who will be hand. This event is also the premiere “Green Drinks” for Alice Springs.
Carbon calculator launch, library display

Energy audits
Energy audits are no longer available from DKA COOLmob in Alice Springs. However, they are available in Tennant Creek for a limited time. Energy and water auditors will be in Tennant Creek on the following dates:
- MAY: Friday, May 16th 2008 or Saturday, May 17th 2008;
- JUNE: (Energy audits only) Saturday, June 7th 2008.
